Golden urges end-of-year donations to National Guard Foundation
VALDOSTA - State Sen. Tim Golden (D-Valdosta) is asking Georgians to continue their generous financial support to the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation through an end-of-year, tax-deductible contribution.
“The Foundation provides much-needed assistance to members of our National Guard who have been called into duty overseas, as well as their families,” said Golden, original sponsor of the legislation creating a state income tax check-off for the fund. “With the end of the year approaching, I want to remind all Georgians that a tax-deductible donation to the Foundation is an appropriate way to support these families who are sacrificing so much on our behalf.”
In 2005, Golden sponsored legislation that established the tax check-off system and raised awareness of the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation to support the families of the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The fund helps those families with medical expenses, rent, car payments, utility bills and other needs while they are away.
Donations to the Foundation, a chartered 501(c)3 charitable organization, may be made directly to:
GA National Guard Family Support Foundation
ATTN: Col. Jay A. Peno
GA Department of Defense
5019 Highway 42, Suite 203
