Memorial Hospital of Adel thanks Senator Golden
for vote to increase Medicaid funding
Adel, Ga., October 16, 2008- The Memorial Hospital of Adel hosted an event to thank Sen. Tim Golden for his influential role in passing the first Medicaid funding increase in six years.
The Memorial Hospital of Adel has partnered with the ACCESS Health Coalition to pave the way for more badly-needed Medicaid funding increases. The goal of ACCESS, an acronym for A Community Coalition for Effective Sustainable Success, is to bring Medicaid payments to 100 percent of costs. Currently, the state pays hospitals 84 cents for every dollar spent treating Medicaid patients, while Georgia physicians are paid 30 percent less for treating Medicaid patients than what the federal government pays for the same care for Medicare patients.
“Tim is a good man that works hard for the people in South Georgia”, said Bill Hawley, CEO of Memorial Hospital of Adel. “His support of this bill shows that he understands the difficulties that small hospitals face on a day to day basis. He is indeed a friend to us all.”
The Memorial Hospital of Adel seeks to improve the quality of life in our community, and is dedicated to providing the best health care services with confidence, dignity and excellence.
