State’s pediatricians name Sen. Golden Legislator of the Year

ATLANTA – State Sen. Tim Golden (D-Valdosta) was honored as Senate Legislator of the Year by the Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics during the organization’s fall meeting Friday at the Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center.

“This award is presented in recognition of Senator Golden’s work in the state legislature on behalf of Georgia’s children,” said Richard Ward, executive director of the state chapter. “He has been a wonderful friend and advocate for their health and safety.”

The Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics is an organization of 1,800 pediatricians committed to the attainment of optimal physical, mental and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents and young adults.

Golden, serving his fifth term in the Senate, represents Georgia’s 8th District, including Brooks and Lowndes counties and parts of Cook and Thomas counties. He is secretary of the Senate Appropriations Committee and also serves on the Finance, Insurance & Labor, Higher Education, and Government Oversight committees. He is chairman of the Senate Democratic Caucus.
