Senator Golden cited for pro-business voting record
July 13, 2006 -- Atlanta, GA -- State Sen. Tim Golden (D-Valdosta) has received a 100 percent Legislative Voting Reference from the Georgia Chamber of Commerce on six key issues during the 2005-06 session of the Georgia General Assembly.
George M. Israel III, president and CEO of the Georgia Chamber, said the reference is “a synopsis of key votes … on issues important to Georgia’s pro-business environment.” One of the legislative measures cited was the renewal of Georgia’s sales tax holidays for the purchase of back-to-school supplies and computers – an initiative originally proposed by Golden and fellow Valdosta legislator Rep. Ron Borders.
“I am extremely pleased to be cited by the Georgia chamber with a perfect record of pro-business voting on these six issues,” Golden said. “Keeping and enhancing Georgia’s reputation as a business-friendly state will result in the creation of more job opportunities for our growing population. As long as I am in the Senate, I will work to support a strong economy throughout Georgia.”
Golden represents the 8th Senate District (Brooks, Cook, Lowndes and Thomas counties) and is chairman of the Senate Democratic Caucus.
