Senator Tim Golden praises Valdosta Tech project

Valdosta, Ga. – State Senator Tim Golden (D-Valdosta) called today’s groundbreaking for a new 100,000-square foot Academic Classroom Building on the campus of Valdosta Technical College a major boost for education and economic development in the area.

“I am very pleased that our delegation was able to help secure the more than $16 million in state funding required for this project,” said Senator Golden. “I am grateful for the outstanding work of Representatives Jay Shaw, Ellis Black and Ron Borders for holding these funds in the budget in the House and for their tireless efforts in making this vital project a reality.  And we are grateful for the Governor for including this project in his budget as well.”

Supporting Georgia’s Department of Technical and Adult Education institutions is an important part of training the workforce the state needs to compete in the global economy, Golden said.

“Valdosta Tech is doing a superb job in providing students from all over South Georgia the skills they need to launch their careers in a number of fields,” said Golden. “This groundbreaking is another step toward expanding the program even further.”

Golden represents Georgia’s 8th Senate District, which includes Lowndes and Brooks counties and parts of Cook and Thomas counties.

“Our legislative delegation pledges to continue to work to secure our share of state resources to support education at all levels and economic development in this region of the state,” Golden concluded.
